چکیده
Nuclear power holds the promise of a sustainable, affordable, carbon-friendly source of energy for the twenty-first century on a scale that can help meet the world's growing need for energy and slow the pace of global climate change. However, a global expansion of nuclear power also poses significant challenges. Nuclear power must be economically competitive, safe, and secure; its waste must be safely disposed of; and, most importantly, the expansion of nuclear power should not lead to further proliferation of nuclear weapons. This chapter provides an overview of the proliferation risks of nuclear power and how they could be managed through a combination of technical, political, and institutional measures. 14.2 Synopsis

The Non-Aligned Movement and Nuclear Disarmament: Stance and Actions
The emergence of nuclear weapons as a new actor in international relations has introduced a new area in the international security arena. Since the appearance of these weapons, there have been increasing efforts to limit and destroy them in order to achieve global peace in the framework of disarmament and centered around the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. Along with the eme...
متن کاملComparative Assessment of Nuclear and Nucleolar Cytochemical Parameters of Oral Epithelial Cells in Smokers and Non-Smokers by Methyl Green-Pyronin Staining
Introduction: A strong relationship exists between cigarette smoking and the development of oral squamous cell carcinoma. Smoking can significantly increase cellular proliferation. Nevertheless, there is little reference in literature to the cytological assessment of oral mucosa in this respect. Methods: Changes in nuclear and neucleolar cytomorphometric parameters such as diameter, surface, nu...
متن کاملUVB-induced nuclear translocation of TC-PTP by AKT/14-3-3σ axis inhibits keratinocyte survival and proliferation
Understanding protein subcellular localization is important to determining the functional role of specific proteins. T-cell protein tyrosine phosphatase (TC-PTP) contains bipartite nuclear localization signals (NLSI and NLSII) in its C-terminus. We previously have demonstrated that the nuclear form of TC-PTP (TC45) is mainly localized to the cytoplasm in keratinocytes and it is translocated to ...
متن کاملComparison of the Expression Level of P53 and Proliferating Cell Nuclear Antigen (PCNA) Genes in the Inflamed and Non-Inflamed Dentigerous Cysts
Background & Aims: The role of P53 and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) genes in inflamed and non-inflamed odontogenic cysts is related to cell proliferation but it is unclear. The aim of this study was immunohistochemical evaluation of P53 and PCNA expression in inflamed and non-inflamed dentigerous cysts Methods: In the present study, 23 dentigerous cysts (12 inflamed and 11 non-infl...
متن کاملThe US-India Nuclear Deal: The End of Universal Non-Proliferation Efforts?
ipg 4/2006 he us government’s plan to lift the nuclear embargo on India runs counter to global efforts against the proliferation of nuclear weapons. The acceptance of India into the circle of recognized nuclear weapon states would prove that universal and generally binding principles no longer form the basis of global non-proliferation efforts but rather that Western countries are increasingly ...
